Except you're missing the critical point here.
I'm 67 years old,i started growing my hair long in 1964 when a group of guys appeared on the Ed Sullivan who called them selves the Beatles. Well the die was cast, and i like many others started growing our hair long. And we got lots of blowback from those opposed to men growing their long. I remember all those fights.
