: : like those guys?

: No. I started growing my hair long in 1964, I thrived on all the complaints that I got. I loved going to school each day knowing that I was going to crap for having long hair. And yes the complaints came, I got in trouble for having long hair, but I
: stubbornly kept my hair long throughout my school years.

: The more the complaints came the more I was determined to keep my hair long. My parents by this time were divorced, and my mother
: was ok with my long hair.

I began to grow out my hair when I suppose I was about 15, around 1972 I suppose. The sad truth is that being a good pupil with high grades got me out of any criticism from the school. I remember one guy, Graham Stock, who caught all kinds of flak about his hair. The issue was slightly different. Yes, he had long hair, but his fringe was like you see on sheepdogs, hanging down over his eyes, and that was what really annoyed the teachers. Also, he was near the bottom academically. I suppose they figured he couldn't see his books, or something?
