The length of the tail of the horse, on the two horses that we have, consists of about 4 to 5 ft. of hair. Try that for terminal length records. Then the horses mane is so strong, so deeply rooted. It is recommended that you grab hold of the mane to avoid being thrown off if needed. Compare that to male pattern baldness when you just tough the hair and it falls off. The hair of the horse mane is so strong, well anchored down. But then during the spring, the winter coat below the mane is shed off for the shorter summer coat to grow in, leaving wads of hair on the ground. Everything on the hair follicle is so controlled by hormone signaling mechanisms.
