Very common. Back in the 1980s I a fifteen year old friend
who committed suicide. She was beautiful, smart, had everything
to live for. But she killed herself one day. At the time it made no sense, all these years later it still makes no sense.
: In the meantime, I keep beating myself up. What if I'd texted him or gone round his house that day? Why didn't I spot the signs? Yeah, I know there's a thousand "what ifs" and I guess it wouldn't have made a difference but I can't help it. I'm just so gutted.
Also very common. You can take comfort in the idea that there
was probably nothing you could do. There are folks specially trained to deal with suicidal individuals.

Ultimately the best thing you can do is be there to comfort and
help the family/friends in their time of grief.
